About Me

Welcome! My name is Katie, and I am a qualified social worker. I live and work on Quandamooka country, the traditional lands and waters of the Quandamooka People- that is in the Redlands area in outer Brisbane, Australia.

I have a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) and a Master of Social Work, and am an accredited social worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers. As well as being an experienced counsellor, my career background is in social services and homelessness, work within large NGOs and leadership and management including providing supervision. I have worked with people across all walks of life.

My interest areas are:

  • Mental health and wellbeing

  • Trauma

  • Life transitions

  • Addiction

  • Grief and loss

  • Anxiety, depression and stress

  • Workplace and career

My vision is a world where all people have access to the resources they need to flourish, and a more connected and just society. I have seen that traditional approaches to therapy miss the mark for some, and often this is because of unaddressed trauma. Most people have experienced trauma of some kind, whether that be single-event or complex, individual, collective, historical, intergenerational or cultural. I envision a more trauma-aware and -informed society, including workplaces and organisations. So, my mission is to offer inclusive, respectful services and a space with me for people to heal and grow.

My personal and professional values are

  • Respect

  • Integrity

  • Social Justice

  • Community, and

  • Compassion

I work with people holistically and from a range of evidence-based counselling modalities and frameworks, including various trauma modalities, narrative therapy, and elements of CBT, ACT and DBT.

I look forward to working with you if you think I will be a good fit for you!
